Other Ways to Give
Tax-free IRA Distributions to Unity Spiritual Center Denver
Owners of conventional IRA’s who are age 70 ½ or older can make a charitable distribution from their retirement accounts without paying income tax on the distribution. You are permitted to distribute up to $100,000 directly from your IRA to a qualified charitable organization, like Unity Spiritual Center Denver - and - you can specify whether you want the contribution to go to the general operating fund, or another specific fund, or split between the two.
As long as the distribution is made from the IRA directly to Unity Spiritual Center Denver, and the owner is at least 70 ½, the charitable distribution will be tax free. The charitable distribution may also be used to satisfy the owner’s required minimum distribution.
Gifts of Appreciated Securities
If you are thinking about making a year-end contribution to financially support Unity Spiritual Center Denver (USCD), this year, it is in your best interest to seek out the most effective way your money can work for you. Gifting appreciated stock is one of the most effective means of tax savings available. To qualify for these special tax advantages, the securities (e.g. stocks, bonds, mutual funds), must have been owned by you for at least one year.
By donating long-term appreciated assets directly to USCD, rather than sell the assets and donating the cash proceeds, you will avoid capital gains taxes and get a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of your gift - and - you can specify whether you want the contribution to go to the general operating fund or another program or split between the two!
